A Bathroom for Every Generation
What is the inspiration for your design?
Bathroom design is always evolving. It's fascinating to watch how it progresses from traditional and older generation design to new generation design. For a house that has multi-generations living together under one roof, the bathroom design must be suitable not just for the new generation, but it also has to respect the design from the past and take inspiration from it to evoke the user's both emotional and physical needs in a bathroom design for all generations living together under the same roof to adapt harmoniously.
How does the design fulfill the need of the target users?
For the elderly, it is difficult for them to adapt to a new way of using the bathroom. It is also hard for young adults and children to adapt to the old way of using the bathroom. Therefore, this bathroom design strikes a balance between the two and creates an exciting, safe, convenient bathroom space for multigenerational family members to enjoy and share.
How does the design fulfill the design challenge?
Multigenerational family living together under the same roof offer an interesting design challenge. In that respect, the design has to balance the needs of the old and the new generations. The design of a clear separation of the bathroom function but still maintain flexibility between sharing & private, and the design of an outdoor experience using an opaque curtain wall and a skylight, help create adaptability for multigenerational family. The careful selection of color and material, as well as the selection and placement of sanitary ware, was intended to create a calm, relaxing, and visible environment for the older generation while also being fun and exciting for the younger generation.
How does the choice of products contribute to the purpose of the design?
The product that has been selected offers the best usage for multigenerational family making the design of the bathroom more flexible, pleasant and creating a space for multigenerational family living under one roof to share the space harmoniously. These chosen products also aid in easy cleaning, eliminating germs and bacteria, being simple to use, and easily presetting the temperature of the water, resulting in a truly flexible, hygienic, safe, ergonomic, and satisfying bathroom design.
